Description:
Hybrid striped bass are a silver, deep-bodied fish, similar to white bass. The stripes along the sides and back of the fish are distinct, usually broken, with several extending to the tail. The teeth on the base of the tongue are arranged in two parallel patches.

Facts:
Hybrids usually occupy the open water in large lakes and prey on gizzard and threadfin shad; however, they can be useful in small ponds that are overrun with stunted forage fish to restore proper predator to prey ratios.

Spawning Characteristics:
Hybrid striped bass generally cannot reproduce because the crossing of a female striped bass with a male white bass causes infertility.
